Turning 11 years old this year, we’ve stepped into a new decade with momentum, special milestones, and many meaningful connections. As 2024 draws to a close, here is a summary of this year’s journey:

Recognition and Reach
We were humbled to be named the #1 brand positively influencing wellbeing in Tasmania, #2 brand Tasmanians would recommend, and #3 brand admired, respected, and trusted in the state (according to the Tasmanian Community Sentiment Survey, social brands’ category, as of December 2024). It really is heartwarming to witness the shared belief in our ongoing mission and serves as another reminder that we could not do what we do, without the support of the community behind us.

Programs and Presentations
This year, we delivered 236 presentations and programs overall, engaging with 5,248 attendees from all walks of life. From workplaces to schools, sporting clubs, and community events, our small team continued to connect, inspire, and create conversations that matter.

Sticker Milestone
A significant milestone was achieved this year, as we officially reached 100,000 Stay ChatTY stickers in circulation! This is the equivalent of 1 in 6 cars in Tasmania proudly displaying our OG sticker: a moving symbol of a shared commitment to promoting mental health awareness, and a powerful visual reminder to check in on the people we love and check in on ourselves.

Expansions for our Schools Program
2024 marked the launch of a very exciting initiative with our new GritFit Kids Program, specially designed for Grade 6 students (currently offered in Independent and Catholic Primary schools). The expansion beyond Grades 9-12 is something that had been requested for quite some time, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer a program that focuses on fostering resilience, connection, and wellbeing in young Tasmanians.

We were also approved as a provider under the National Student Wellbeing Program, placing 14 Stay ChatTY Student Wellbeing Officers (SWOs) across 24 schools statewide. Our SWOs have been working in collaboration with the schools to define their individual needs and create supportive and connected environments for thousands of students across Tasmania.

Positive Culture in Sports
Through our Sports Program, 94.5% of participants reported improved culture around mental health within their clubs. This feedback reinforces the importance of grassroots efforts to break the stigma and encourage more open conversations in every corner of our community. We loved visiting a wide range of sports clubs this year too: from footy and soccer clubs, cricket and netball teams, to radio yacht, surfing, skating groups & more.

Fundraisers and Feats
This year saw no less than 48 fundraising, awareness, and sporting events in support of Stay ChatTY! And what a year it has been… It would be impossible to list every single achievement on here – from 1,360 goals kicked, an epic 1,326km run around Tasmania, to pushing a 240kg piano to the summit of kunanyi in under 24 hours, the dedication of our supporters never ceases to amaze us.

Shorts Day Success
Shorts Day 2024 was another record-breaking event, with 22,434 registrations, 40 organisations visited, and nearly 300 Instagram Stories shared on the day! We’re so grateful for this year’s phenomenal participation, and all the people in Tasmania and beyond, who joined us in braving the cold and braving the conversation, showcasing the power of community in driving awareness and support for mental health.

Mental Health First Aid
We expanded our impact through 10 Mental Health First Aid training sessions, certifying 134 new Stay ChatTY Mental Health First Aiders. From the North to the South, and even the West Coast, these sessions have equipped Tasmanians with the tools to support those around them, who might be experiencing a mental health challenge. We strongly believe that if anyone can have a conversation that may save a life, then everyone should know how! More and more Tasmanians have jumped on board, through both our public events and via private bookings for their teams.

Online Connections
Our online platforms fostered over 322,000 connections with the community this year. Through posts, Stories, newsletters and interactive content, we’ve extended our reach to ensure mental health support and advocacy are just a click away. If you’re keen to follow our updates online, you can check out our Facebook page, view our Instagram account, connect with us on LinkedIn, or subscribe to our newsletter (this is where we’ll release first access and information for our events, including our Gala Ball).

A moment for our Supporters
We couldn’t carry on the good work without the unwavering support of our Major Supporters and Supporters: organisations who value and align with our ongoing mission. We wanted to take a moment to thank them all, and highlight some of the milestones reached this year, from the RACT team taking on the role of Major Sponsor for Shorts Day yet again, to Banjo’s raising some serious ‘dough’ to celebrate our 10 years of partnership.

Looking Ahead
As we close the chapter on 2024, we’re filled with gratitude for every individual and organisation who contributed to our ongoing mission. Together, we’ve made strides in promoting mental health awareness and breaking down barriers, as we continued to show up, share stories, and stop the stigma in Tasmania and beyond.

Here’s to 2025 and all the opportunities it brings to continue creating change, one story, one sticker, and one conversation at a time!
