Our small team is usually on the go: whether it be to deliver some programs and presentations, our Mental Health First Aid training, or to support fundraising efforts and events. We LOVE to be busy and to get as many opportunities to connect with the community as possible! And while we’re doing that, we feel it is important to practice what we preach by checking in on ourselves and with each other and looking after our mental and physical health.

One way of doing this, is by sharing the things we’ve tried and enjoyed, and we thought this would be something you’d enjoy, too. So, without further ado, here is the first edition of our ‘Stay ChatTY recos’!

Apps

“TappingSolution” – a free (with premium option) EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping app – EFT tapping focuses on tapping the 12 meridian points of the body to relieve symptoms of a negative experience or emotion, and this app has plenty of guided audio tracks to release stress, anxiety, and overwhelm and restore a feeling of balance through affirmations and tapping. A great one to try if you’re feeling a little off!

Books and Audiobooks

“Hey Warrior” by Karen young – A picture book for kids about anxiety – an amazing book for kids and adults, which offers a clever way to explain how anxiety shows up in our bodies, why it’s important we experience it and tools for managing it.

Podcasts

“The Diary of a CEO” with Steven Bartlett – a podcast with experts from various fields focusing on education, business and health – the variety of guests and wisdom from this podcast is outstanding! The episodes are long, which is good for a road-trip, mixed in with ‘moments’, which are shorter snippets of wisdom.

Movies & Series
“Live to 100: Secrets of the Blue Zones” – a 4-part docuseries available on Netflix following National Geographic Fellow, Dan Buettner, as he visits communities around the world living a better, longer life – It’s insightful, heartwarming, and inspiring, and a great reminder of the power of community (and to eat more black beans).
