Upcoming Mental Health First Aid Refresher courses for 2026 will be held in Launceston on August 11 (11.30am-3.30pm) and Hobart on October 27 (12.00pm-4.00pm).

The Mental Health First Aid Refresher course is designed for currently accredited MHFAiders, with the completion of the course granting a further three years of accreditation. This course is delivered jointly by Relationships Australia Tasmania and SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.

Please note: you must hold a current accreditation to participate in the Refresher. This is a requirement from Mental Health First Aid Australia. If your MHFA accreditation has expired, you will need to attend the Standard MHFA training.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher participants will learn about the latest research in the mental health field, work through complex mental health first aid interactions, and practice their mental health first aid skills across a range of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations.

A refresher of knowledge previously acquired through the Standard Mental Health First Aid training, covering:

  • How to recognise the common signs and symptoms of adult mental health problems
  • How to provide initial help for individuals
  • How to support individuals to access the help they need
  • How to provide mental health first aid to individuals in crisis

The Refresher course is:

  • Evidence-based
  • Rigorously evaluated
  • Informed by lived experience

Accreditation

You will need to complete an online assessment after the course to extend your Mental Health First Aid accreditation by a further three years.

  • $217 (including GST), to be paid prior to the training
  • Original Standard Mental Health First Aid accreditation to be provided prior to the training
