Student Wellbeing Officers work with wellbeing and student support staff in schools to support the emotional wellbeing of students and the broader school community.
Please note, this position works independently from the Stay ChatTY team, and is based within the schools. The delivery of our Schools Program presentations is not managed by SWOs.
The role may however be called upon to assist with SUSC events and activities.
Areas of SWO work may include:
• non-clinical student support as part of the School Support and Wellbeing Team
• providing referrals for students or sourcing appropriate services to meet their needs
• supporting student engagement and connectedness
• helping to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
• coordinating volunteer activities
• breakfast clubs
• lunch time activities
• school incursions and excursions
• parent/caregiver workshops.
While Student Wellbeing Officers are based in schools under the direction and supervision of the designated schools, they are part of the Stay ChatTY team and therefore represent Stay ChatTY throughout their role. It is desirable for people to operate within their communities or surrounding communities.
