(Pauline and Kylea at a past MHFA training)
Our Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training has been popular, and we are thrilled to witness the shift happening, with organisations prioritising having Mental Health First Aiders on the same level as First Aid Officers.
The next confirmed courses are fast approaching, and we will be offering those in both the South and the North of the state: in Launceston on October 3-4, and in Hobart on October 8-9.
First time hearing about the MHFA training, or unsure if the course is the right fit for you? Below is everything you need to know!
What it is about: the MHFA course teaches participants how to provide initial support to someone who might be experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis.
Why it is needed: 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health challenge in any given year. It is highly likely that we will all know someone, at some point, going through a tough time. Whether it is a family member, a friend, or a colleague, knowing how to spot the signs and start a conversation can make a huge difference.
The practical details: the course is run over two days, from 8.45am – 4pm each day and costs $325 including GST. We provide tea, coffee, and morning and afternoon tea, and it is ok to take a break at any time. An online assessment will be available and sent after the course, to provide the MHFA accreditation.
We hope to see you in a MHFA training soon… If October doesn’t suit, keep an eye out for early 2025 dates!
