Have you heard about She Shreds? They’re a local community organisation that’s been active for more than 10 YEARS; running skateboarding sessions, lessons, and events for girls in the greater Hobart region. It was established by keen skater and father of two, Jared Andrew, with the intention of “increasing girls’ participation in skateboarding”.
What began as a social media group set up to find some likeminded girls for Jared’s two young daughters to skate with, very quickly became an active skateboarding institution within the Australian Skateboarding community! Alex was thrilled to head along to chat with some of the crew, on a cold night on the skate ramps.
Members of the high-performance group learnt about how to build confidence when speaking up about their mental health, and the different ways to show up and support their fellow club members.
