As the new school year is now in full swing, we wanted to share a few tips for all the students and young people in our lives 💙
Here are a few things that can be done, to make this school year a great one:
  • Your feelings are valid: It is normal to feel a mix of feelings towards being back at school. You don’t have to have it all figured out right now, take things one day at a time.
  • Establish a consistent routine: Get into the new routine by sticking to consistent bedtimes and wake-up times, to feel well-rested, energised and focused through the day.

  • Stay organised: Use a planner, an online calendar and reminders to help you keep track of what is coming up: from assignments, extracurricular activities, and important dates. This will help you manage your time and reduce stress by not keeping it all ‘in your head’.

  • Keep it balanced: Make time for fun, physical activities, hobbies, and relaxation alongside schoolwork.
  • Seek support when needed: If you need support with anything, don’t keep it to yourself! Have a chat with a trusted adult, teacher, or support team member.

  • Show up for mental health: Chat to the school about doing Shorts Day this year, to raise awareness of mental health!

  • Stay hydrated and sun-safe: Tasmania might be cooler than some other States, but the sun is rather mighty, especially during the back-to-school period. Drink plenty of water, apply sunscreen, and wear a hat during outdoor activities.

A new year is the perfect time to embrace new things, subjects, clubs, and friends! Keen to get the team to visit a school this year? Head over here to see our Primary and Secondary Schools presentations!
