We feel really lucky to be kicking off 2025 with yet another incredible fundraiser, set by Trent Henderson: 110 marathons, in 110 days, in support of Stay ChatTY.
Trent first heard about SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY in 2014, when Mitch spoke at his high school, and shared with us:
“A few years ago, I found myself reflecting on that session I had participated in with Mitch.
“I was facing some personal challenges and worked through some tough times relating to my mental health which had led me to a place with thoughts of suicide.
“Remembering Mitch’s message prompted me to reach out to my close circle of people and I found support through talking to them about how I was feeling.
“This, together with my love of fitness, performing stand-up comedy, and my passion for running, has helped me completely turn my life around. I plan to run 110 marathons in 110 days to raise awareness of positive mental health and suicide prevention, encourage daily challenges, and spread kindness.”
When asked why he chose to support us, a charity in the mental health space, here’s what Trent had to say:
“Many people today are struggling. Our generation talks more openly about their problems, but it’s always good to remind ourselves to reach out to others and keep the lines of communication open without judgment. I chose to share my thoughts because I heard Mitch’s story, and I can relate to the impact it has had on me. Every time I see the car stickers, they prompt me to take a moment to reflect.”
Trent has been gradually increasing the number of kilometres he’s running each week for the past few months and completed the 2024 Melbourne Nike Marathon and the 2025 Adelaide City Run Marathon in the lead up to the challenge, which started on Monday 10 February.
He has supplemented his training regime with swimming and weight training at FitZone Derwent Park, who will be supporting him through this challenge. Other local businesses including The Running Edge and Next Level Wellness and Recovery Centre Tasmania have since pledged to support Trent too, which we love.
Trent shared that he is “fortunate to have an incredible support crew, especially my amazing mum, Mandy, and my encouraging friends and co-workers. Their support means everything to me, and our conversations always leave me with a big smile. These people inspire me to keep going and to make a positive impact on others, just as they have done for me.”
This is going to be a tough challenge physically, mentally, and emotionally that will last for the next 3 months. If you have a moment, make sure to send some words of encouragement to Trent via his Instagram, or head to his online fundraising page right here!
