On February 1st, we celebrated a significant milestone: the 10th anniversary of our first ever statewide initiative, the “Tour de Tig”. It’s hard to believe that a decade has passed since we embarked on this incredible journey, marking a pivotal moment in Stay ChatTY’s history.
The idea for the Tour de Tig stemmed one year after the loss of Mitch’s brother, as a way to not only raise funds, but also spark vital conversations about suicide prevention across the island and raise further awareness of Stay ChatTY.
With unwavering determination, Mitch and six of his closest friends embarked on an epic 360-kilometre run from Burnie to Hobart, accompanied by a dedicated support crew over the course of four challenging days.
While Mitch hoped this run would capture the hearts of Tasmanians, the overwhelming support that poured in surpassed all expectations. The outpouring of solidarity and generosity from communities statewide was truly humbling, demonstrating the profound impact of collective action in driving positive change.
As we reflect on the significance of this milestone, we’re reminded of the pivotal role that the Tour de Tig played in kickstarting Stay ChatTY’s journey. It served as a beacon of hope and resilience, igniting a movement that continues to touch lives and transform communities.
