(Mitch and Kelvin Smith)
We recently helped launch “Piano to Pinnacle”, an upcoming fundraising initiative by fellow Tasmanian, Kelvin Smith.
Across a gruelling 24 hours (between November 16-17th) Kelvin from ‘A Piano of Tasmania’ will share kunanyi with the world’s toughest half marathon, Point to Pinnacle – all in support of SPEAK UP! Stay ChatTY.
Kelvin Smith will attempt to push his 240kg piano from Mures on Hobart’s picturesque waterfront to the 1271m summit in under 24hrs as a living metaphor of 24hrs in the life of someone living with mental illness.
Preparation for this huge physically and emotionally challenging event has been a long journey, and one that requires a team of people to conquer. Kelvin’s training has been overseen by Matt Lancaster (Participate Tas) who has been to 3 Olympic games with the Aussie team. Matt’s support has extended to curating the training schedule to ensure Kelvin is as prepared as possible for this incredible challenge.
The launch was so well supported by Tasmanian media, it also featured a beautiful smoking ceremony and some special guests.
We can’t wait to share Kelvin’s journey with you, and of course, we are so grateful for his support as he looks to raise an incredible $40,000!
