(Kylea, Breandan, and the participants of our MHFA training in Strahan)
We brought our Mental Health First Aid training to the West Coast at the end of November, for two fantastic trainings fully funded by our friends at Hydro Tasmania!
From start to finish, it has been wonderful to collaborate with Breandan, Hydro’s Engagement Advisor, in bringing the training to the Tasmanian West Coast. We are deeply grateful to have been offered the opportunity to partner with a team who truly understand the needs and challenges of the community, and is keen to remove as many barriers to access as possible.
Thank you to all the participants in Zeehan and Strahan, who invested two days of their time to build up their mental health skills – we know each and every one of them will positively impact the community.
If you’ve been thinking of joining one of our future MHFA trainings, here is what participants on the West Coast had to say about it:
- “I had decent understanding of different mental health conditions, but not much idea of how to provide assistance. This course has given me great tools to offer appropriate support. It was wonderful! Definitely would highly recommend to others”
- “Every day we deal with lots of different people [at work, in the tourism industry]. From doing this course, I have gained knowledge which allows me to give help and support to a guest if needed”
- “There will always be challenges but I feel confident applying this training – very well structured with breaks and activities. Please continue to offer courses where possible!”
