The Mental Health First Aid Refresher course supports current and accredited MHFAiders to stay up to date with mental health first aid knowledge, skills, and information.

Upcoming Mental Health First Aid Refresher courses will be held in Launceston on December 11, 2025 and in Hobart on February 20, 2026.

1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental health problem in any given year. That means that every person is likely to know someone who is experiencing a mental health problem, whether that is a family member, a friend or colleague. In fact, mental illness is now said to affect every Australian either directly or indirectly.

Mental Health First Aid Refresher participants will learn about the latest research in the mental health field, work through complex mental health first aid interactions, and practice their mental health first aid skills across a range of mental health problems and mental health crisis situations.

Upon completion of a short assessment at the end of the course, participants will extend their Mental Health First Aid Accreditation for a further 3 years.

A refresher of knowledge previously acquired through the Standard Mental Health First Aid training, covering:

  • How to recognise the common signs and symptoms of adult mental health problems
