In early November our good friends at Mackillop held a whole school ‘Wear Your Shorts to School Day’ fundraiser as part of their annual ‘Sunny Side Up’ initiative which this year focused on mental health. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t play fair delivering a cloudy, rainy and windy day for the staff and students. Despite the conditions, the grade 9 versus grade 10 netball match still went ahead in blustery conditions. The other big part of the day was the school’s assembly that held a Q and A with some special guests.
Mitch joined Relationships Australia CEO Mat Rowel, Movember advocate Tommy Windsor, and Hobart personality John X. The session allowed all four panel members the opportunity to talk about their own lives and what helps them focus on their own mental health. But also share some tips and ways that young people, in particular, can make some changes when it comes to supporting themselves or someone around them.
We thank Donna Brown, Cam Briers and student leaders for pulling the day together, and along the way raising $358.
Thanks Mackillop, for the ongoing love and support, we value it so much.
