Kylea and Callan had the opportunity to participate in the ‘Healthy Me’ Expo at Kings Meadows High School in the North just before the holiday break. The annual event, organised by the student leaders, has become a hallmark of the school’s commitment to fostering a healthy and supportive environment for its students.
We were thrilled to be asked to join the Expo, which provides a platform for the entire student cohort to engage with various local health services, creating an environment that encourages open conversations about physical and mental well-being.
Attendees had the chance to explore valuable resources and information from local health services, enjoy live music performed by their talented peers, and food vans added just the right festive touch to the expo.
In the spirit of fostering a sense of community, the Expo featured teacher versus student games, injecting a healthy dose of fun and camaraderie into the event and building positive relationships between students and educators.
Perhaps most importantly, the ‘Healthy Me’ Expo served as a platform to break down barriers and reduce the stigma associated with seeking support for one’s well-being. Conversations around mental health were encouraged, creating a supportive culture where students felt empowered to reach out for help when needed.
The success of the Expo is a testament to the students’ talent, and to the school’s commitment to holistic education, recognising that the well-being of students extends beyond the academic realm. We look forward to more sessions with the students in 2024!!
